For starters, you add the components that are going to be used as ordinary product categories. (Like Ram category, CPU category). Then, under them, you add the different components to be used. (Like 512 Mb DDR Ram, 1024 Mb DDR Ram as different products under Ram category)

Second, you go to Custom Computer Builder module in the oscommerce admin, and add systems to the store |

3. When you add the systems, you need to add component categories (like Ram, Cpu, Harddisk) to the system. These can be in the form of dropdowns, radio or checkboxes.

When adding component categories complete, you populate the component categories with actual component products. You can either add these manually (ram pieces one at a time), or you can add an entire Product category you added earlier in step 1.
